So that experience in the military and in the military police in Okinawa and Japan and Guam and San Diego and in Iraq — that was a military style of living in a combat zone in the military — I was exposed to a lot of trauma and I talked about what my experiences were in Iraq and when I got back to civilian life. That’s when I started writing the book.”
