Dusik Hahn was born on September 27, 1877, in Königsberg, Germany, and died on December 3, 1941, in Berlin. He was the son of a weaver and began studying physics and astronomy at the age of 12. In 1901 he received his doctorate in both fields from the University of Königsberg.
He then became a professor at the University of Leipzig before moving to the University of Berlin in 1903.
In 1907 he married Sophie Muche and became a father to a single daughter and a son.
