He is also a very organized man, probably because of his long history with the Citadel. In fact, he has been there for so long that he has been known to say things like "I have been here for so long I have lost track of time."
In the books, Cressen is from a high-class family in King's Landing. He had some noble blood in him, but it was not strong enough to make him a noble himself. He was born in King's Landing, but he later moved to the Free Cities.
