I am not a huge fan of the whole anime convention culture, but when I was looking for a topic for a blog post, I was surprised to see that it was about “Anime Convention”. I feel that it is a misnomer to call anime conventions like “conventions”. Anime conventions are not conventions, they are just another way of cosplay.
Cosplay is a general term referring to the practice of dressing up in costume and roleplaying as a character from a different culture. I am sure that most people would agree that cosplay is an activity enjoyed by many people. An anime convention is no different. Anime conventions are places where people can dress up as their favorite characters. Many cosplayers enjoy attending anime conventions because they also love to see people cosplaying their favorite characters.
Anime conventions are usually held in cities or large towns. For example, Anime Expo, which is held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, is one of the largest anime conventions in North America, and has been held annually since 1995. Anime Expo attracts over 75,000 people in total.
