If you’re like me, you might not be able to make art without having the complete piece in your mind. I know I don’t. If I try to draw something without knowing what it is, I end up with an unfinished mess. So I’d be completely lost if it came down to Yukako not knowing what she wanted to make. This is where her process becomes even more interesting. When I worked with Yukako, she would tell me what she wanted to make, but she never showed any of the pieces she was working on. She would sit at her desk and draw something she thought was cool, but never showed it to me. It was up to me to decide what the piece should be. This made me feel like even though she was telling me what she wanted to make, she still felt lost about the process.
