While both ISTJ and ISFJ are likely to be introverted, the nature of the introversion is quite different. ISTJs are more likely to be introverted by nature; ISFJs are likely to be introverted because of their need to seek feedback on their own work. While ISTJs are more likely to feel like they need to see the results of their efforts (see Chapter 6), ISFJs are more likely to feel like they need to hear the results of their work (see Chapter 6).
Introversion is not the only difference between ISTJ and ISFJ. Both types are likely to prefer people who are like them, but only if they’re like them in an area of their life that is not directly related to their work. For example, if someone is introverted by nature, the ISTJ is likely to feel comfortable around him or her because of shared values.
