Krang was the first of the "fifth season" villains to appear in the world of the classic 1966-69 "Superman" TV series, and was played by John Erwin, who also played both Perry White of the Daily Planet and Dr. Sivana, who was originally a magician and would have been a "fourth season" villain in the original version of "Superman".
Krang was a brilliant scientist and inventor, and he had kidnapped Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) to use her as a human guinea pig in his plans to take over the world. He even used his own daughter to feed off the energy of Clark Kent (Christopher Reeve), which caused Clark to grow to a gigantic size.
Krang was defeated by Superman when he tried to brainwash Superman into becoming his pawn, only to fail.
In the Tom Welling-led "Smallville" TV series, Krang was played by Mark Sheppard. He debuted in the third season episode "Descent". He is a reclusive scientist who seeks to rule Earth with an army of powerful robots.
