The brutal attack began shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday in the East Village, when a man slashed a 26-year-old woman in the face with a box cutter, police say. She suffered a cut to her left cheek and a cut to her right cheek. She was transported to Bellevue Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The assault happened near Second Avenue and East 10th Street, according to police.
