“I don’t quite know how it all happened, but I went in and did my initial training and then I spent the next five years there doing various courses,” he said.
“My first deployment was in 2006. I was based in Darwin with an infantry unit. They were there for about six months. They were doing training over there for counter-terrorism.”
He joined the army while at school and while he had some fears about the army while he was enlisted, he said he did not have any second thoughts while deployed.
