Sam liked the feeling of having learned something that was new and exciting, and he liked the feeling of having learned how to do something that was so easy he could do it without even thinking about it. He liked the feeling of being able to draw things in his head without needing to draw them with pencils and paper.
As a boy, Sam had had trouble with math. He wasn’t good at it, and he had a hard time learning it. He did all right, but he always knew that there was something missing in his learning process, something that wasn’t obvious to him but was important to other people.
