Cinque personality type is ENFP, the Explorer. The ENFP is often said to be the "idealist" type, which is accurate to the extent that the ENFP tends to feel that they are living in a fantasy world, and all the other types around them are trapped in the real world. They are happiest in situations like these because their "idealistic" vision is consistent with their own opinions.
ENFPs in relationships tend to be very idealistic in this way, because their partners are in turn likely to reinforce that idealism, and ENFPs are well accustomed to seeing their own ideals realized in others. This is one of the reasons that ENFPs tend to be well suited to relationships based largely on emotional compatibility, because they tend to meet their partners' emotional needs in much the same way that they meet their own.
The ENFP does not, however, always have strong enough boundaries to prevent them from taking on more than they can handle. They seem to have an almost overwhelming need to help other people, whether they are friends or strangers, and this can lead the ENFP into situations where they find themselves over-extended without any tools for coping.
