Lee, who is a fan of deep-sea diving, often uses his "fantasy novel" imagination as a way to express his love for the ocean.
Lee said he started drawing around the age of five, and took an interest in drawing whenever he had free time. During middle school, while looking through a book on cartooning, he came across an illustration of a cartoon character that looked just like him.
The character was so similar to him that he felt it was as if he was being drawn by himself.
While studying at Chung-Ang University, Lee learned of Eun Ji-won, a Korean artist who made illustrations depicting the lives of fish.
Lee began to experiment with drawing fish and other fish-related imagery, and now his work has become something of a trademark. Lee said he wants to convey the idea that there are many different schools of thought when it comes to fish-related artwork.
