While the majority of ISTPs are introverts, a small percentage are extroverts. More extrovert ISTPs tend to share some of the introvert qualities and are often mistaken for being extroverted. They tend to be more outgoing than their introverted brethren, but still prefer to be alone for most situations and are not as willing as extroverts to talk about themselves or put themselves out there. I know personally that as an extrovert, I find it fun and energizing to get to know other people, but am much more comfortable being alone (and by energy, I mean being quiet and introspective) than with a lot of people. I think that's why the majority of my friends are introverts, they understand my style and like it because it makes them feel comfortable, too.
