But they make up 7.7 percent of the U.S. workforce, according to a survey by CareerBuilder.
The Myers-Briggs assessment tool is meant to identify people's personality traits based on how they tend to think and behave. People are asked to answer a series of questions and then are given a scale that ranges from one to five — one being the least compatible with his or her personality and five being the most compatible.
"The ESTP is the most common type in the U.S. workforce with nearly one in three employees (31 percent) identifying as the type," CareerBuilder said in the August survey on the Myers-Briggs personality types in the workplace. "In contrast, less than one in five U.S. workers (18 percent) identify as an ENFP."
