I'm not sure that the current system is sufficient to deal with the problem either. We've had it for quite a long time now. If anything, I'd like to see it strengthened.
I would agree that the current system may not be adequate to deal with the problem of many voters feeling disenfranchised by it. We need to consider also the possibility of a post-2020 electoral system.
