The book starts off with the story of Beldine's family's bakery and Beldine's first job as a 5-year old. The first few chapters are about the bakery and the story of how it came to be and the various surprises and adventures that Beldine and her family encounter. The rest of the book has Beldine working at the bakery and getting older and older until she's 22 and still working there.
Beldine is a very sweet character, she loves baking and cooking and doing all kinds of things. Her favorite customers are her aunt Edelsa and her mom, who is an excellent cook. The customers she dislikes are her dad's customers, who are all "basic" people and not very nice. She also hates her boss, who she thinks is very mean.
I think this book is great!! I really enjoyed all the baking recipes that Beldine makes, they were all very delicious! I also really enjoyed learning about Beldine's family and how they ended up owning the bakery.
