I'll admit that I was already angry about the way the universe had treated me. After all, I was an ESFJ personality type. I had the "people person" energy, the "giving" energy, the "tender" energy, the "supportive" energy. I'm kind of a people-pleaser. I want to be seen as a loving, caring person. I want to be liked and accepted by everyone. And it just so happened that I had gotten this role in a play, and it was so important to me that I went to great lengths to make everyone love me.
The time came when I began to complain about having to do things like memorize my lines, memorize my blocking, memorize what my costume would look like each night. I complained to the director about it, and he took me aside and said something like, "You're really a good actress, but you really need to learn how to stand up for yourself. If you're not willing to learn how to do that, then you're never going to be able to succeed at this."
