Zella Day - Only A Dream personality type is INFP, and I can't be more happy to type them and know them better! I am reading "The Truth about Your Child: How to Raise a Child with a Learning Disorder" and am hoping to get more of their knowledge and understanding on how to deal with these types of children. I've been working with kids diagnosed with ADD and it's been a challenge to say the least.
There is more of a stigma around learning disabilities than there is for people with other disabilities. I think it's the way we were brought up. We were always told that these people were "dumb" or "stupid" or "slow". I don't know any of the people in my in-laws' family who have a learning disability, so it's definitely a different stigma in our family.
I was in a situation where my kid was diagnosed with ADD and I had a hard time accepting the idea. I didn't want her to have a label. I was so shocked. I had no idea that ADD was something that could be treated, but when I got into it, I realized that it's not really a disease or anything. It's just a matter of learning how to manage your child better.
