Rafe personality type is ESTP, the type of the "free spirit" (Fisher). But this is not the only way to be an ESTP. Rafe himself is not an ESTP; he's an ESFP. (I'll discuss differences between the types in the next class.)
Two popular media depictions of ESTPs are in the book and movie "Fight Club." Both the movie and the book are about rebels who are trying to fight against mainstream culture. For example, in the movie, Tyler Durden is an ESTJ (the "bureaucrat" type). He "is" the whole world, and he is trying to destroy it. He represents someone like Rafe. But Tyler Durden is not really an ESTJ, because he's not organized in his life. For example, he's got no job; he's not in a corporate office. He's not in a school or in a military unit. He's no longer an individual when he pretends to be someone else, like Tyler Durden. So in this way, Tyler is closer to an ENFJ than to an ESTJ. This movie also makes it clear that ESTJs are often indirect in their communication, and they often use humor or sarcasm.
