Enid Nightshade personality type is ESTP, (and I'm such a telly-telling type that I will confirm this for you), and it's the reason why she never had a chance with Harry Potter. He had to be her. Her. And only her. Because only she was good enough for him.
But she was never good enough (for him) because she was never his best friend.
The other thing that makes her a bit of a jerk, I think, is that while she was always trying to 'bring him back' and 'save his soul', she didn't realise that she was doing it all wrong. While she was trying to bring Harry back, she was also trying to get him to just forget about her and move on, and that's why she kept insisting that he should 'let her go'. And that's why he kept telling her to stop, and why she kept trying.
Because she did care about him, and did want him to be happy and live his life and be all sorts of amazing. But she didn't realise that happiness and life and being amazing was the thing he wanted the most. She thought he needed her to be happy, but he didn't.
