Haru Shinkai personality type is INFP, a rare human enigma who's been described as 'humble' and 'curious'. However, his career path has been a bit of a mystery.
In an interview with The Telegraph , Shinkai said, "I've been working on The Garden of Words since 2006, but the film has been in a state of limbo for a long time. I've been in the animation industry for almost 20 years. I started off in the advertising department at Ridley Scott Associates in London."
Shinkai also revealed that he's been influenced by the works of Masamune Shirow, who is known for Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed. But he doesn't want his work to be compared to Shirow's.
"As much as Shirow influenced me, I don't want my works to be compared with Ghost in the Shell," he added. "My dream is to make a film that's unique."
The Garden of Words is inspired by a novel of the same name by Ryu Murakami. The film was Shinkai's graduation project from the Tokyo University of Arts and was released in Japan in 2011. The film has yet to get a release date in English-speaking countries.
