Joel Goodson was born on March 11th, 1982 in New York, New York. He was born to two physicians by the names of Marvin Goodson and Arlene Goodson. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He had a younger brother named Anthony. He had a happy childhood with his family until he entered high school. He was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age 12, which made him very sick for more than two years. After his recovery, he entered Huntington University where he earned his degree in Biology with Honors. He continued his education at Columbia University where he earned his Masters in Public Health. He then went on to receive his PhD in Biological Sciences at New York University.
