Iizuka says he can’t imagine a life without them.
But he admits that the journey has been difficult at times. He has been forced to take a break from baseball twice in the last 12 months due to injuries, one of which was a back injury. But he never lost sight of the promise he made to himself and the team when he stepped on the diamond for the first time in 2015.
“I never thought it would be easy, but I have to keep waking up every day and keep going,” Iizuka said.
