The Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) is a personality type that is more difficult to understand than the ESFJ. This is because it is a more recent personality type that was developed by Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D. in an effort to understand why some people experience so much pressure and so many emotions compared to others. Dr. Aron developed the HSP personality type in 1979 and it was approved by the American Psychological Association in 1990.
The HSP personality type is comprised of people who have a gift of heightened sensitivity and can experience and perceive things that most other people do not perceive.
