What is the personality type of Mrs Hall? Which MBTI personality type best fits? Personality type for Mrs Hall from All Creatures Great & Small 2020 and what is the personality traits.
Mrs Hall personality type is ISFJ, with a definite preference for the ‘Caretaker’ function.
In her book, she claims that ISFJs are ‘the most caring of the sixteen types’. In her work, she gives an example of a mother who is a ‘Caretaker’ type, who was asked to help a child with a maths problem. This is a typical ISFJ reaction, as she struggles to understand the nature of the problem and how to solve it, before finally remembering a formula from a long time ago. She was not able to teach this child a new way of solving the problem. Because of this, she concludes that ISFJs are not able to learn new ways of solving problems.
In my view, this is a misinterpretation of the Caretaker function. The Caretaker function is not about learning how to solve problems, but about providing the support that helps others with their problems. In my own work with ISFJs, I have seen them provide this support to others. If they can trust someone or something, they will provide this support. They will care for others and give them the help and encouragement they need.
