Blue Pikmin personality type is ENFJ, which is interesting because a lot of the Pikmin are ENFJ. It's also interesting that the Pikmin we know are developed by a team of ENFJs.
I don't think you're totally right though, I think Dr. Olimar first met the purple Pikmin in the game, but they were captured by the Hocotate Freight Company and taken to the Shiveria under the orders of Reyn. I think that after the purple Pikmin were freed from the Shiveria by Captain Olimar, he used them to train the other Pikmin (or at least the other color types) and then released them for the sake of finding his ship (and his family). That's basically what I think happened.
(And of course, I'm not saying this because I'm purple or anything...
