William "Will" Thacker personality type is INFP, Intuitive Feeler Perceiving. I was the youngest of four boys, all of whom are still alive. I was born in Omaha Nebraska on June 21,1944. I lived in Omaha until 1969. I graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1962. I enlisted in the United States Navy on June 5, 1963, at the age of 18. After basic training at Great Lakes Illinois, I was stationed at Ft. Meade, Maryland, as a radio operator on the USS Antietam (CV-36). I served on the Antietam for four years. The Antietam was the first aircraft carrier to be sunk by an enemy submarine. We operated in Chesapeake Bay, off the coast of North Carolina, and the Panama Canal Zone. We also operated off Vietnam. That's where I met my wife. I was discharged from the Navy on October 1, 1967, having served for four years and eleven months. My wife and I were married at Arlington National Cemetery on April 16, 1969. Our first child was born the day after my discharge. It was our first child that brought us to San Jose California in 1973. That's when I began writing my first book about my experiences as a U.S.
