Nancy B. Artingstall personality type is INFP, even though she was an INFJ. Her personality is very enmeshed with the concept of the "seeker."
I don't think she was ever "in control" of her own personality (which is enmeshed with the idea of the "seeker"). I think she has always been a seeker; she's just not quite sure what she's looking for.
The INFJ side of her personality may have emerged after she had that breakdown in HS at age 16, which was triggered by an (INFJ) friend of hers (whom she was very close to, but had to leave school after 1 semester because of the breakdown). She said that she'd ended up engulfed by the INTP side of her personality.
I suspect that the INFJ side of her personality could have become dominant if she'd grown up in a different environment - say, in an environment where she was forced to work on a career path, rather than one where she could just pursue her dreams. It's also possible that this breakdown could have triggered the INFJ side of her personality, which was latent in there all along.
