Most people know the term Hagiography as a genre of writing, but what they don't know is that it's a title.
The word comes from Greek hagios ( holy ) and graphein ( to write ).
Hagiography is a genre of writing, which write about a holy person ( saint ).
There are three kinds of hagiographies:
1. Lives of saints
2. Lives of bishops
3. Lives of Church Fathers
In the first type, the focus is on the life of the holy person.
The second type focuses on the life of a holy person who's a bishop.
The third type focuses on the life of a holy person who's a Church Father.
For example, Pope Gregory the Great would be written about in the third category.
In this post, I will be talking about the lives of saints.
