She has a fondness for black and white patterns and checkered patterns, which she often wears on her clothes. Her eyes are always closed, along with her mouth, and she loves to use her fox ears as a means of expression.
In the beginning of the series, Black*Star is shown to be very arrogant, believing himself to be the strongest in the team. His determination and willpower are also legendary, and he often leads the team in battle (though he is not above taking advice from his friends, as well). He also has a strong obsession with money, which he believes can be used to buy anything. It is this obsession, which leads him to be the first one to betray his team and turn on them. He is also known for his obsession with Chiyo Sasami, and even goes so far as to make a contract with her so he can have her as a servant.
