Dave Petrakis personality type is ENTP, described as “the storyteller” by author David Keirsey. ENTP stands for Extraverted Intuitive Thinking Perceiving. I’ll just say that it means that I am an ENTP with a particular focus, or bent, for storytelling.
When I say “storytelling” I make several distinctions between storytelling and writing. First, storytelling is the act of telling the story; it sometimes implies that the story is not true, but is merely an embellishment, or embellishment is the act of telling something that is true. Second, storytelling can be like a game, like a game of racquetball, where the story is about the game itself, not about the people involved.
I don’t want to write about myself. I want to tell stories.
It is my hope that this book encourages you to tell your own stories, and that those stories become a part of you as you read them.
In the course of writing this book, I have been inspired by other writers. In particular, I have been inspired by those who have written books about their own lives.
