E.T. personality type is INFP, which is the only one that has an 8 to show up. And, in this case, it is very easy to see that E.T. has a much more developed sense of self than the other characters. He is clearly the protagonist of the story, and very clearly the one to root for.
The Negative Side of Se, Ti, Fi
However, there are also limitations to having all four of these functions in one person. While I would never say there is anything inherently bad about these types, they can be seen as problematic in certain ways. For example, Ti users are known for being perfectionists and over-analyzers. This can come across as too self-conscious or even self-absorbed at times. Of course, there is nothing wrong with E.T. being an INFP, but it is easy to see how this trait could be off-putting to some people.
There is also the challenge of trying to balance these four functions with each other. Unlike Ti and Fi, Se and Ti don’t naturally tend to come together very well. If Se is too active and Ti is too passive, this can lead to some very muddled and confused thinking.
