The Dwemer were a technologically advanced race of humanoids who were native to the Dwemereth region of Tamriel, and considered the greatest of the early Ayleids. During the Interregnum, they became part of the Alessian Empire, and later became one of the three major factions that followed the collapse of that empire.
History
The Dwemer, most likely an indigenous race to Tamriel, soon developed a strong culture and civilization. They lived in large underground cities and eventually developed many aspects of modern technology and engineering, and became a master of metal and stone for crafting their marvelous inventions. They arguably lived in luxury above the surface world, with today's Dwemer ruins appearing as if they were built as magnificent homes and castles, as opposed to the bone-like ruins that are actually found underground.
The Dwemer built many things such as machines as well as their incredible creations, such as the Nchunardil, a magical-powered device that could conjure up portals to other worlds.
