I think the problem here is that the article is trying to explain that ISTP is a personality type, and that's an entirely different question. I don't think ISTP is a personality type. I think it's a way of thinking about personality, but not a personality type in the same way that ISTJ is a personality type. ISTP is an orientation, not a type. ISTP is an "analysis type," an "orientation" that places high value on understanding and knowledge, and therefore is naturally drawn to careers that involve such activities. ISTP has a love of routine and routine, which means that the ISTP person will be good at planning and scheduling their life in such a way as to maximize their efficiency and effectiveness. ISTP will also be good at brainstorming and organizing ideas in such a way as to maximize their effectiveness and efficiency. ISTP loves to be able to read and analyze so thoroughly in order to understand and predict the outcomes in advance. ISTP will be good at analyzing and predicting the emotions of people in such a way as to be able to understand and predict what emotions people will feel and how to respond to them.
