Zenji Banba was a very interested in Amazonian culture since he was a child, but when he was in college, he had his heart set on going to the Amazon when he graduated. However, when he was in college, he had a friend who was going on a mission trip to Brazil with the Amazon Missionary Foundation. This friend asked Zenji Banba if he would go on that trip with him, and after a lot of deliberation, he finally said yes.
During this trip, Zenji Banba was in a lot of amazement, shock, and awe when he saw this area in the Amazon. He saw a lot of small villages and people who were very poor.
