Karras personality type is INTJ, and we can see this in the way he handles his career and the demise of his brother. After the Trickster initiated the Dark Project and almost brought civilization to its end, he felt that the order wasn't following the Builder's teachings like the way they were meant to, not being rigorous and devoted enough.
And so, he breaks away from the order and creates a parallel, splinter religion which too, follows the Builder's core teachings albeit, with some revised interpretations and additions.
That order went by the name of 'The Mechanist Order', with Karras being its highest ranking member, being addressed by his devotees as 'Father Karras'.
The order pushed the City into a technological revolution, with new, powerful and efficient inventions improving its infrastructure, thus, bringing the attention and patronage of the City's aristocrats and law enforcement.
