    Jefferson Airplane
    INFP

    INFP (4w5)

Jefferson Airplane personality type is INFP, though the band's relationship with the Myers-Briggs typology is a long and complicated one. Some say that it was a misunderstanding, while others say that the band wrote their songs to express their INFP characteristics. The INFP is a rare type, and even rarer in rock music, which is traditionally a very extroverted art form. Is there a way to determine the Myers-Briggs type of a musician?

It is possible, but there are much better ways to do it. There are several online personality tests that can give you a good idea of a person's Myers-Briggs type, or at least a good approximation, but they all have problems. For example, the MBTI is an online test, but it does not have a free version. The free MBTI is a weak approximation of the full test, and does not have enough questions for a good read on a person's personality.

Other tests tend to be much weaker still, so many people choose to take an online personality test instead. The problem with these tests is that they are all from very different sources, and therefore do not test the same things.

Jefferson Airplane was an American rock band based in San Francisco, California, that became one of the pioneering bands of psychedelic rock. Formed in 1965, the group defined the San Francisco Sound and was the first from the Bay Area to achieve international commercial success. They were headliners at the Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock, Altamont Free Concert, and the first Isle of Wight Festival in England. Their 1967 break-out album Surrealistic Pillow ranks on the short list of the most significant recordings of the Summer of Love. Two songs from that album, "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit", are among Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time". The October 1966 to February 1970 lineup of Jefferson Airplane, consisting of Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, and Spencer Dryden, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Marty Balin left the band in 1971. After 1972, Jefferson Airplane effectively split into two groups.
