Kauan – a Finnish band – is a collective of musicians from Finland and Sweden. The band was formed in 2003 by Jone Nikula, Mikko Karmila, Jarmo Saari and Petri Kulmala.
Kauan’s music is a very special mix of indie pop and alternative rock.
In 2007 the band released their first album “Kauan”, which became a great success in Finnish music charts. In 2009 the band released their second album “Kauan II”, which became a great success as well. In 2011 the band released their third album “Tulikärki”, which also got a great response from the public. The album reached Gold status in Finnish charts and was nominated as a best album of the year by Finnish Grammy. In 2012 the band released their fourth album “Pudotuspolitiikka”, which became a great success as well.
In 2013 the band was nominated as the best band from Finland in the Newcomer of the Year category at Finnish Grammy and they won the award.
Kauan is an atmospheric doom metal/post-rock band from Chelyabinsk, Russia formed in 2005. Kauan's name stems from the Finnish language, meaning for a long time, and many of the band's lyrics are in Finnish.
