History of the Enneagram
The Enneagram was developed by the Hungarian psychiatrist, G. I. Gurdjieff, who was also a teacher of Yoga. Gurdjieff was fascinated with the similarities that he observed between human beings and the nine major types of character types that are represented in the Enneagram. While he studied the Enneagram, he recorded his findings on various charts that looked like a series of concentric circles. His goal was to provide a system that would allow people to understand themselves better and others better. After the death of Gurdjieff, the Enneagram became more widely known through the work of C. G. Jung, who used the Enneagram as a framework for his Psychology.
