Whitesnake personality type is ESTP, so they’re very bold and aggressive, and they roll with energy—that’s why there’s so much testosterone in the music. It’s the same energy that David Lee Roth has, and it’s the same energy that makes you want to be onstage and perform. The Whitesnake personality type also tends to be very deliberate and disciplined, and that’s why we had such a high level of professionalism in the band. It was great for us.
I’m not sure what to think of “I Need You Tonight” and “Dancing With Mr. D.” I don’t see how they could be considered Whitesnake songs.
Well, it’s not like we made them up. Those songs were already written. We didn’t make them up out of thin air, like “Here I Go Again.” We didn’t want to do anything that didn’t represent who we were and what we stood for. That’s why we did an album like 1987, which is representative of how we did things in the past and how we did things in the present.
Whitesnake are a hard rock band formed in England in 1978. The group was originally put together as the backing band for singer David Coverdale, who had recently left Deep Purple. Though the band quickly developed into their own entity, Coverdale is the only constant member throughout their history.
