Diagnosis
Multiple personality disorder (MPD) is typically diagnosed using the DSM-IV-TR criteria, although both the DSM-IV and the ICD-10 criteria are used for some subtypes.
The diagnostic criteria for MPD are that the persona is distinct from the subject; that the person alternates among an alter personality (or alters) at least two times per hour; and that the alternations are not merely a result of psychosis.
