I don't think she was a good mother for her children. In fact, I would say she was a terrible mother. She was too much of a perfectionist, and too much of an idealist. But she was also self-sacrificing, in that she wanted the best for her children. She wanted them to have a better life than she did, and she wanted them to succeed at everything they did. She wanted them to be happy, and to be good people. And she wanted to be a good mother to them.
But she was unable to see that her children were not happy. She just didn't understand that she was the one who was unhappy, and not them. She had a very narrow perspective on what her children should be like, and what their goals should be.
