As an ENFP, I was drawn to science in general, and psychology in particular, because I wanted to understand myself. I wanted to understand the world I lived in, and I wanted to understand why people were the way they were. I could see that others had problems. They were angry, or sad, or depressed, or whatever. And I felt like there was something wrong with them.
I also had a lot of trouble understanding myself. I didn’t understand why I was the way I was. I knew that my emotions were real, but I didn’t really understand the thoughts that gave rise to those emotions. And I didn’t understand how other people’s emotions worked, even though in retrospect I know that I understood those emotions when I felt them.
