    Eduard Uspensky is a Russian who was born on the 25th of June in 1895. He was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. He graduated with a degree in mathematics from St. Petersburg University where he received his Master’s degree in mathematics in 1915. He worked as a woodcarver and teacher before becoming a touring mathematician. He was considered to be one of the most brilliant mathematicians of his time. He also worked as an engineer at the Gorky Automobile Factory.

    He began his journey into his research into mathematical logic at this time of his life. He published several papers on the subject during the 1920s. These papers were later translated into English where they were published under the name “Logical Foundations of Geometry” (Herman, 1979). The work presented here is considered to be his most important work on logic. It is through this work that he developed the idea of the logica universalis (Birkhoff, 1950).

    Eduard Nikolayevich Uspensky (Russian: Эдуард Николаевич Успенский; 22 December 1937 – 14 August 2018) was a Russian children's writer and poet, author of over 70 books, as well as a playwright, screenwriter and TV presenter. His works have been translated into 25 languages and spawned around 60 cartoon adaptations. Among the characters he created are Cheburashka and Crocodile Gena, Uncle Fyodor and Kolobki brothers. He was awarded IV Class Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" in 1997.
