The Hungarian language is considered very difficult to learn for non-native speakers, but I think it’s easier to acquire than many other languages. In the first few months, I did not use any of the Hungarian colloquialisms in the writing, and I believe that helped me keep my tone consistent.

István Örkény (5 April 1912, Budapest – 24 June 1979, Budapest) was a Hungarian writer whose plays and novels often featured grotesque situations. He was a recipient of the Kossuth Prize in 1973.
