The Holy Grail (魔女の祟り, Majo no Shito?, lit. "Witch's Curse") is a game feature in Tales of Berseria. It is a cursed relic in which the "messenger of fate" is trapped. The role of the messenger is to pick out one person for certain death and grant that person's wish. The person who dies will be sent back to the Holy Grail and the one who receives the wish will be granted that wish. The Holy Grail only grants one wish to each "messenger" as a whole, so it must be passed on. There are also rules that determine which wish can be granted--people who have already died cannot grant wishes, and the messenger cannot grant wishes to their spouse or close relative. A messenger can also choose to pass the Holy Grail down to their descendants and continue the cycle.
One of the main characters, Zaveid, is a messenger of fate that has chosen to pass the Holy Grail down to his descendants. He is also the younger brother of the heroine, Yunie.
