Mawata Fuwa personality type is ENFJ, so I do see some of that in her. I think if she'd been a little more forceful and spoke up, the council would have seen her as a threat. She's a little bit shy, and maybe if she'd been a little more outspoken back then, she would have been seen as a threat. But, her personality type is actually pretty rare, and if she'd been a man, it would have been a lot easier for her to be seen as a threat. So I think that's a little bit of the reason why they were probably pretty harsh.
She's not a bad person – she's just not a powerful political person. She's not a people person, so I think that's what made her so easy to say no to. That's what makes her so easy to ignore.
You've mentioned that you started working with QJST as a volunteer editor about three years ago. How did you get involved?
In the summer of 2015, I was doing a lot of research on my own because I wanted to start writing a book to help girls who were going through the same thing I went through.
