Haru is considered to be one of the most compassionate characters in the series, being compassionate to everyone he meets, whether they are people he knows or people he does not know. This is best seen in his tenderness toward his mother, or his care for his friends. He also cares very much for his mother, which is best seen in his interactions with her, and his tears when she dies. Haru is also rather shy deep within himself, often hiding behind his exterior of being cheerful, friendly, and carefree. He often has trouble expressing himself, which is best seen when he must speak to others due to his inability to express himself to anyone other than his mother. Haru is also rather gullible, often getting himself into trouble. This can be best seen in the anime with the incident with the rabbits; he trusted that Rinne had been killed by Yashiro and that he would be avenged, and was willing to go with him to the Kanto Region to fight him. It was only after Yashiro killed Rinne that Haru realized how foolish he had been.
