Bitcoin was created because people wanted an alternative to government-issued money. It was an idea that was carried out and has continued to be carried forward by a bunch of people who wanted to make something better.
Bitcoin is not a product, and it's not a company. It's a concept, a set of ideals. And it's been kept alive by a bunch of people who want to keep it alive.
