In 2012, Sakaguchi Ango was promoted to chief animation director for Gundam Build Fighters Try where he worked on the Gundam Build Fighters series. It is a spinoff series of Gundam Build Fighters where the characters are young amateur builders who fight against evil. The series follows the story of university student Sei Iori as he enters the world of Gunpla building and fights against other builders, who have access to advanced models.
